An Unforgettable Human Adventure: Maxine Shares Her Construction Internship in Fiji

WHAT WERE THE ASSIGNED TASKS ON SITE?

For several weeks, I took part in two construction projects in Fiji:

The first involved building three classrooms, with various tasks ranging from fixing the roof and gutters to installing boards, desks, and chairs, as well as painting and cleaning inside and outside.

The second project aimed to create a playground for a kindergarten: we installed fencing, a gate, swings, a covered sandbox, and even a hopscotch court.

It was concrete, physical, and teamwork-based work serving the local community.

WHAT THIS INTERNSHIP BROUGHT ME:

This project was incredibly enriching on a human level. I made meaningful connections, both with locals and other volunteers from around the world.

Each interaction was a discovery, an opening.
On a more personal level, I was deeply touched by the simplicity and serenity of the lifestyle. This philosophy, focused on what truly matters, well-being, and community, continues to inspire me even now, long after my return.

DO I RECOMMEND THIS PROJECT?

Absolutely. If you want to get involved in a concrete, human, and meaningful mission, this project is for you. It truly helps improve the daily lives of local communities while offering an intense experience of sharing and cultural exchange.
This adventure made me want to continue down this path and engage in other solidarity projects. I am convinced that this kind of experience is essential to grow and better understand the world.

...AND REALSTEP?

I recommend RealStep without hesitation. Their professionalism, personalized support, and the quality of the projects offered make all the difference.
Before departure, everything is well prepared: advice, practical info, connecting you with the right people. On site, the projects are well structured and useful, directly aligned with the needs of local communities.
Thanks to them, I was able to live a rich, human, and secure adventure. Everything was set up so I could focus 100% on my mission and the connections I made.
