During my internship, I was fully integrated into the charity shop team. My tasks included receiving donations, sorting clothes, organizing the shelves, and handling the cash register. A complete experience, close to the daily life of the solidarity shop.
This internship allowed me to grow in a very different environment from what I had experienced so far. I discovered a professional world where people are at the center of everything. What struck me the most was the richness of exchanges with my colleagues, all from very diverse backgrounds. It was a deeply fulfilling experience.
I highly recommend going abroad: it’s a unique opportunity to open up to other cultures and new ways of working. In this particular project, engagement happens through the work in the shop, which directly supports the solidarity actions carried out by the organization.
I would recommend RealStep to anyone wishing to get involved in a humanitarian mission abroad. The project matched what was promised, and the host family was very pleasant. If I could suggest one improvement, it might be to offer group activities on weekends: many volunteers stay on site due to lack of funds or unreliable transport. But overall, the support was excellent.
