Maxime on her turtle conservation internship in Greece

This internship with a marine conservation NGO gave me the opportunity to work on saving sea turtles. I was able to work with people from all over the world (English, Italian, German, Canadian, Spanish, American). As a result, I was able to improve my English considerably and progress in my missions as the weeks went by, becoming more and more autonomous.

If I had to tell a memory...

This would be the birth of turtles!

Have I validated my internship?

I'm not back to school yet so I haven't validated my internship but I have to do a report. I will need scientific documents on our role on the turtle population (annual figures, organization chart of the NGO....), I will certainly come back to you for this information soon.

If I had to rate my experience...

With regard to the services offered :

  • pre-departure information: 5/5
  • registration process: 5/5
  • Supervision / project coordinators: 5/5 super
  • Volunteers' and trainees' schedules: 4/5 (getting up at 5:30 every morning is tiring in the long run :)
  • Catering and accommodation: 3/5 (better catering when there were few volunteers...)

I'd recommend this project because it's a great experience, with a good atmosphere and interesting work, from discovering the nests to giving birth to the turtles. I would also recommend RealStep for the organization, and the perfect connection with the NGO.
