Your accommodation
Housing is allocated by local NGOs, not by Freepackers - the descriptions are there to give you an idea of the type of accommodation, as it is very likely that conditions will vary on site depending on the number of volunteers, weather conditions, availability, etc. Each volunteer will be accommodated according to the stated conditions, but it is possible that the accommodation may not match the description or images shown on this site word for word, for example, in the case of annexed housing, renovations, relocations, etc.
Student accommodation in the UK: options to suit every profile
Finding accommodation in London or another British city can be a significant source of stress. Our programme offers several housing arrangements organised ahead of your arrival, across all main placement cities.
Homestay (host family)
You stay with an English-speaking host in a private home. Several board options are available — from bed and breakfast through to full board. An ideal solution for immersing yourself in the local culture while benefiting from a structured and supportive environment.
Available in all placement cities: London (various zones), Birmingham, Manchester, Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Oxford, York, Dublin and more.
London-specific options
London offers several accommodation configurations based on location (Tube zones 2 to 5), with or without a private bathroom. All properties are selected for their accessibility to public transport and proximity to your workplace.
All accommodation is confirmed before your departure. Detailed information about each option (facilities, location, house rules) is provided at the time of enrolment.
```html Student Accommodation in the UK
Our host family accommodations are registered with the British Council across the United Kingdom and provided by fully vetted host families.
We are generally able to provide a suitable host family profile within 3 to 5 working days of receiving the student's application form. We can also accommodate urgent requests and last-minute bookings whenever possible.
Students are carefully matched with a host family based on their preferences, dietary requirements, allergies, age, gender, and any other relevant information.
It is also possible to arrange an introductory video call between the student and their host family before arrival.
Should any issues arise during the stay, our 24/7 emergency support line is available to students, ensuring assistance is always available whenever needed.
