You will work 35 hours per week, from Monday to Friday. Weekends will be free to enjoy the city of Barcelona. Keep in mind that you will be quite busy during the week, with accommodation located outside the city center.
By taking part for 3 months or more, you can sit for the DELE, certifying your level of Spanish. This diploma is internationally recognized and is a valuable asset in the professional world.
You can also obtain the Certification supported by the European Commission on the acquisition of transversal skills. The assessment is carried out through collaborative projects and professional simulations demonstrating autonomy, critical thinking, and adaptability.
This program is open to everyone, whether you are a student, changing careers, or taking a gap year. What matters most is your willingness to contribute to the project according to your skills.
The local NGO works with volunteers, both local and international, to build a supportive, inclusive, and responsible community. The NGO believes that by learning to live together better and by respecting others, we can have a positive impact on society. It strives to build and promote harmonious coexistence among residents of disadvantaged neighborhoods, who are increasingly facing difficulties in accessing basic resources, low levels of education, and social and professional exclusion.

Housing is allocated by local NGOs, not by Freepackers - the descriptions are there to give you an idea of the type of accommodation, as it is very likely that conditions will vary on site depending on the number of volunteers, weather conditions, availability, etc. Each volunteer will be accommodated according to the stated conditions, but it is possible that the accommodation may not match the description or images shown on this site word for word, for example, in the case of annexed housing, renovations, relocations, etc.
You will be accommodated with other project volunteers in a hostel or an apartment in the Sarrià district, in the upper part of the city.
The accommodation is located 50–55 minutes away from the project by public transport. The commute is easy.
Mixed-gender rooms are shared and include 3 to 5 bunk beds.
Washing machines are available, with one use per week included.
All meals are included (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Meals are mainly vegetarian, with meat options available occasionally. In case of food allergies or intolerances, please inform us.
A kitchen is available and ingredients are provided, so volunteers cook together and all contribute to the tasks of community life.
Upon arrival, you will take part in an orientation and information session designed to introduce you to the local area, the facilities and the team. Activities and shared meals with other volunteers will be organised to help you settle in and adapt to your new environment.
You will be supported by a local on-site coordinator who will supervise your work and monitor your progress throughout the training. Coaches, psychologists and local coordinators will also be available to support and guide you during your humanitarian training in Spain. A little bonus: the founder is very often present at the NGO’s premises, where he can help guide you through your first steps in Barcelona and on the projects.
