Description

Program description

You will assist nonprofit organizations with active clinics, thereby contributing to a significant positive impact on the local community.

You can carry out your veterinary internship in several European countries such as Portugal (Lisbon, Porto), Spain (Barcelona), Italy (Rome), Greece (Athens), and Croatia (Split).

Your tasks as an intern

You will take part in various missions with two objectives: to train you as much as possible and to support the proper functioning of the host organization.

Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Following and discussing clinical cases
  • Supporting and observing consultations
  • Assisting in soft tissue surgeries
  • Supporting treatments (e.g., blood sampling, bandaging, IV therapies)

Conditions and tasks may vary depending on the destination. Internship durations range from 1 to 9 months.

Sample schedule

Morning:

  • 7am–10am: Breakfast at your accommodation.
  • 10am: Head to your internship location to start the day and begin working on your project.

Midday:

  • 1:30pm: Lunch at work or at your accommodation depending on your placement.

Afternoon:

  • 2pm–7pm: Continue working on your project. You will also have time to freely explore the city depending on your work schedule.
  • 8pm–10pm: Return to your accommodation or enjoy your free time.

This schedule is a general example. During the first week, you will have an orientation day to familiarize yourself with your organization and the city surroundings.

Each week, you will have a check-in with your supervisor to ensure the internship is going well.

You will work from Monday to Friday, between 5 to 7 hours per day, with weekends off.

You will be accommodated in a volunteer house. Housing conditions may vary depending on the country chosen for the internship. You will stay in a shared room.
