Our partner organization works closely with a network of over 700 non-profit organizations active in the social and environmental fields, with the aim of innovating and improving their capacity to have a greater positive impact on the lives of the people they support.
Its role is to connect students and recent graduates who want to apply the skills acquired during their studies with concrete and meaningful challenges faced by organizations in need of their support.
This program is available up to 12 weeks, please contact us to know price and availabilities.
Housing is allocated by local NGOs, not by Freepackers - the descriptions are there to give you an idea of the type of accommodation, as it is very likely that conditions will vary on site depending on the number of volunteers, weather conditions, availability, etc. Each volunteer will be accommodated according to the stated conditions, but it is possible that the accommodation may not match the description or images shown on this site word for word, for example, in the case of annexed housing, renovations, relocations, etc.
You will be accommodated in an international youth hostel in Ponta Delgada, the main town of Sao Miguel island. You will share a mixed dormitory room with 6-10 people with a shared bathroom.
3 meals per day are included in the program (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free options available upon request.
The dining area is located outside the youth hostel, about 15-20 minutes on foot or accessible by bus. It is a community restaurant with a “homemade” style – all dishes are prepared by locals using fresh ingredients.
You are of course free to eat out at your own expense.
Public transports are easily accessible, giving you several options to reach your project. On your first day, the local team will be there to welcome you at the airport and guide you.
