In addition, you could help to support the local volunteers by organizing events and activities. Interns have organized film nights, Facebook events and English clubs at the project site.
When you arrive at the accommodation you will be shown around, have a short introduction and then be given time to settle in. The more detailed orientation will happen on Monday.
At 10 a.m., you will meet with the other volunteers and be able to ask any questions. You will have lunch at a restaurant before being welcomed by the volunteers already settled at the project. There is then a one to two hour tour around the city. Finally, you will be given time to unwind and enjoy your evening.
On Tuesday morning, you will be given the opportunity to participate in a Hungarian lesson.
After this introduction, you will begin working on the project. You will be instructed and supported by team members and experienced volunteers with all the various tasks you may be asked to perform.
While on your internship, there is a lot to see and discover in Transylvania, as well as in Romania as a whole.
Transylvania is famous for the legend of Count Dracula who supposedly lived in Bran Castle. Although this is just a myth, a visit to the castle is certainly worth the while! The area is home to mountains, medieval towns and castles, all of which are sure to captivate you.
Due to the preservation efforts in nature reserves and national parks, you are able to experience untouched nature and enjoy some peace and quiet.
There is plenty to do right around the project site as well. Popular activities include hiking, visiting a beer factory, paragliding, fishing, tennis and paintball, among many others.

Housing is allocated by local NGOs, not by Freepackers - the descriptions are there to give you an idea of the type of accommodation, as it is very likely that conditions will vary on site depending on the number of volunteers, weather conditions, availability, etc. Each volunteer will be accommodated according to the stated conditions, but it is possible that the accommodation may not match the description or images shown on this site word for word, for example, in the case of annexed housing, renovations, relocations, etc.
The volunteers' accommodation consists of four apartments with a front yard and a backyard.
In the main building, two apartments are reserved for volunteers and divided by gender:
Each apartment is fully equipped with:
Â
Bed linen is provided, but each volunteer must bring their own towels.
The accommodation is ideally located close to many shops, cafés, and grocery stores.
Our partner’s office is just a 10-minute walk from the volunteers' accommodation. It includes a workspace as well as a storage area with supplies for summer camps and other projects.
The project includes all meals during the week. At weekends, the volunteers are provided with everything they need to prepare breakfast and lunch, with dinner included. Twice a week, a grocery list is drawn up together, and the person in charge of the volunteers does the shopping.
