Program description

Discover a rewarding opportunity by joining our exciting internship in Romania. Boost your CV, support local communities, and gain insight into how an NGO operates. Earn university credits while making a positive and lasting impact.

Volunteer Missions

Volunteers commit approximately 3 to 5 hours per day and actively contribute to the activities of our partner organization, thereby strengthening its impact and improving its services. This immersion allows them to better understand how NGOs work and the challenges they face.

The missions are diverse and tailored to each volunteer’s skills and length of commitment. Among the main tasks:

  • Administrative support: updating records and managing stock
  • Communication and marketing: managing social media, newsletters, website, and photo contests
  • Fundraising: uploading items to the solidarity shop and contributing to project writing
  • Community engagement and activities: organizing events, conversation clubs, and movie nights
  • Content creation: photos and videos to document the missions

Volunteers on long-term missions may be involved in more complex projects, while those on short-term missions focus on more accessible tasks to maximize their impact.

YOUR TASKS

You will be assisting in the day-to-day activities of the NGO, meaning that your tasks may vary. You will work 3-5 hours per day Monday-Friday and your tasks may include:

  • File management
  • Fundraising
  • PR & Marketing
  • Social Media
  • System review and development
  • Office management
  • Organization of stocks

In addition, you could help to support the local volunteers by organizing events and activities. Interns have organized film nights, Facebook events and English clubs at the project site.

Orientation

When you arrive at the accommodation you will be shown around, have a short introduction and then be given time to settle in. The more detailed orientation will happen on Monday.

At 10 a.m., you will meet with the other volunteers and be able to ask any questions. You will have lunch at a restaurant before being welcomed by the volunteers already settled at the project. There is then a one to two hour tour around the city. Finally, you will be given time to unwind and enjoy your evening.

On Tuesday morning, you will be given the opportunity to participate in a Hungarian lesson.

After this introduction, you will begin working on the project. You will be instructed and supported by team members and experienced volunteers with all the various tasks you may be asked to perform.

Destination

While on your internship, there is a lot to see and discover in Transylvania, as well as in Romania as a whole.

Transylvania is famous for the legend of Count Dracula who supposedly lived in Bran Castle. Although this is just a myth, a visit to the castle is certainly worth the while! The area is home to mountains, medieval towns and castles, all of which are sure to captivate you.

Due to the preservation efforts in nature reserves and national parks, you are able to experience untouched nature and enjoy some peace and quiet.

There is plenty to do right around the project site as well. Popular activities include hiking, visiting a beer factory, paragliding, fishing, tennis and paintball, among many others.
