At the heart of this initiative are two distinct projects, harmoniously merging in a cultural and ecological vision.
The first focuses on restoring the district’s oldest dwelling, while the second aims to create a cultural and memorial space on the island of Phi Phi.
These projects, supervised by eco-construction professionals, represent an innovative approach to construction, emphasizing adaptation to the environment rather than modification of the environment. They will also serve as a platform for exchange between European and local practices, promoting the improvement of built structures through collaboration and the diversity of skills.
There are two distinct projects that integrate into one with a cultural and ecological vision.
Indeed, one of the projects is the restoration of the district’s oldest dwelling, built 125 years ago as the first coconut oil farm.
Here you’ll find the colonial-style house on stilts and the ruins of various furnaces and secondary infrastructures. The work here will be traditional, with an emphasis on natural, local materials.

The second project is the creation of a cultural and memorial space on PhiPhi Island to mark the 20th anniversary of the tsunami and the communities affected. It will include a collective dwelling, a memorial, a socio-cultural center, a center for the recovery of plastic collected at sea and on the beaches and for recycling by pyrolysis, which will be used to power the site. The special feature of this project is that the buildings will be made of bamboo, so special techniques for using this natural material will be taught.
These two projects are also a way of showing another way of building, by adapting to the environment, rather than adapting the environment in order to build.
The missions will be supervised by eco-construction professionals. It will also involve an exchange of methods and concepts between what is done in Europe and our regulations, and what is done in more tropical zones, enabling us to improve the various structures built there with the skills, knowledge and ideas of all concerned.

The costs invoiced by the association are used to finance operating services, on-site support staff, volunteer expenses (meals, accommodation, transport, activities) and a portion of the funds donated to the projects themselves.
