2-day Welcome Orientation
Your internship begins with a two-day orientation in Cape Town at Saltycrax Backpackers.
DAY 1:
We pick you up at the airport and take you to the Saltycrax Backpackers Hostel. You will be given a tour and a map of the area. You have the day free to explore the beach, stores, bars and restaurants.
In the evening, a welcome meal will be served at the hostel.
DAY 2:
Start the day with breakfast at Saltycrax Backpackers. Saltycrax staff will teach you about the bus system before you leave for downtown Cape Town.
WALKING TOUR OF THE CITY :
Take a walking tour, visiting historic sites such as Good Hope Castle and the Grand Parade. In the parliament buildings and the District Six Museum, discover what life was like during apartheid.
Shop for African arts and crafts at Greenmarket Square and St George's Mall.
After these activities, you can take a bus or walk to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.
Sit back and sip a delicious coffee, enjoy fresh fish and watch the boats at work in the harbour, or stroll around and visit the stores and markets while listening to musicians in the streets.
You can also take the cable car up Table Mountain for a breathtaking view of the city.
You can also discover Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned during the apartheid era. (Personal expenses)
In the evening, take the local bus back to Table View where you can join our staff, guests and locals at one of the waterfront restaurants or bars, all within walking distance of the hostel where you will spend the night.
DAY 3:
After breakfast, you will be taken directly to your project where the internship takes place, or dropped off at the bus station to be transported to your project.

The budget includes accommodation in a guesthouse or hostel near your internship placement. Rooms are shared between 4-6 people, but it is possible to book a private room for an additional fee.

Your internship begins with a two-day orientation in Cape Town.
DAY 1: You will be picked up at the airport and taken to the hostel. You’ll be given a tour of the premises. The rest of the day is free to explore the beach, shops, bars, and restaurants. In the evening, a welcome dinner will be served at the hostel.
DAY 2: After breakfast, the staff will provide you with all the information about local transportation before heading out as a group for a guided tour of Cape Town’s city center.
DAY 3: After breakfast, you will be accompanied to your internship placement where you will begin your practical training with your supervisors.
