The marine biology course in the Canary Islands allows you to gain university credits while deepening your knowledge of the marine ecosystem in the Canary Islands. The center located in Tenerife offers you an internship as part of your Master’s degree in marine biology. Whales and dolphins off the coast of the Canary Islands face several challenges: intensive fishing, the omnipresence of commercial fishing boats and water pollution. All these elements cause the degradation of their natural habitat, which our organisation is trying to remedy through this marine biology course. Their health is also deteriorating in addition to their living environment.

Housing is allocated by local NGOs, not by Freepackers - the descriptions are there to give you an idea of the type of accommodation, as it is very likely that conditions will vary on site depending on the number of volunteers, weather conditions, availability, etc. Each volunteer will be accommodated according to the stated conditions, but it is possible that the accommodation may not match the description or images shown on this site word for word, for example, in the case of annexed housing, renovations, relocations, etc.
The students stay in shared rooms of 4 to 6 participants, with a shared bathroom in the accommodation, which also has electricity and running water.

Kitchen duties and cooking are shared between local staff and interns. The dishes are generally simple but balanced, often typical of the region. You will also have the opportunity to buy your own food in town.
Network: wifi connection available on the project, and the location of the centre allows for a good telephone network. Cafés with free wifi are also available throughout the city.

Transportation: Upon arrival, you will be met by a member of the team on site and transferred to the project. Transportation between the project and the accommodation is also covered, except when it can be done on foot.

Climate: the climate is pleasant, expect temperatures between 18 and 24 degrees on average between December and February, and 24 to 28 degrees Celsius between June and August.
