Useful information

Participants in their English gap year are welcome all year round to help the caretakers at Lone Pine Sanctuary look after Australia’s koalas, as well as the reserve’s kangaroos and numerous birds. Tasks are varied and include preparing and distributing food, cleaning the enclosures and welcoming visitors to the center.
If you’re looking for a field experience to practice your English or to discover an international working environment, this project combines perfectly with English courses in Brisbane (Monday to Friday at the school, volunteering on Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 3pm).

As with all our programs for a gap year working with animals, this project in Australia gives you the opportunity to gain professional experience while making a positive and lasting impact on the region’s ecosystems.

Our Brisbane campus

Just a few minutes from a large park, close to public transport, stores, cinemas and restaurants.

Fully-equipped kitchen, relaxation area with table tennis and table soccer, 50 student computers, free WIFI, flat-screen TV, library (books and DVDs), free access to gym.

Courses during this gap year in general and intensive English at all levels, professional English and preparation for TOEIC/ELTS exams.

Housing types

Host family (half board).

Accommodation in student residences: private, double or triple rooms, shared kitchen, bathroom and living room. A supplement is added for this option.

Your accommodation

The English school offers a range of accommodation options for students:

- Deluxe Homestay: private bathroom, only one student per family. Laundry and meals are generally provided (breakfast and dinner Monday to Friday/ breakfast, lunch and dinner on weekends).

- Family Homestay: shared bathroom, maximum of 2 students (of different nationalities) per family. Laundry and meals are generally provided (breakfast and dinner Monday to Friday/breakfast, lunch and dinner at weekends).

- Self catering Homestay: shared bathroom, unlimited number of students (of the same or different nationalities) per family. Students are responsible for their own laundry, and only breakfast is provided by the family.

- Student House: private, double or triple rooms, shared kitchen and bathroom, TV room/lounge to share with other students of the same or different nationalities. Minimum length of stay.
